In the research initiative "reFuels - Rethinking Fuels", the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), together with the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport, three other ministries and numerous partners from the automotive, automotive supplier and mineral oil industries, investigates the efficient production and use of regenerative fuels, so-called reFuels. They also test their use in the existing vehicle fleet and aim at the social acceptance for these fuels.

The project encompasses the entire value chain, from energy suppliers, fuel synthesis, and system developers to engine and vehicle manufacturers.

All vehicles - old and new - can fill up with these regenerative fuels. The aim is to create a rapid complementary solution for CO2-neutral mobility.

Duration of the project: 01/2019 - 12/2021
